Megan graduated from Elmhurst College in February 2012 with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a M.Ed in Curriculum & Instruction/ Autism Studies in August 2015. She has her Illinois Educator's License (formally type 04 teaching certificate) in Early Childhood with Special Education and ESL (English as a Second Language)/ Bilingual Education- Spanish endorsements (she is not a native speaker and continues to work towards becoming fluent). In Spring of 2017, Megan obtained her LBS1 endorsement and BCBA certification. She is currently work on a master's certificate in educational law. Prior to teaching, Megan worked as a teaching assistant in a self contained autism classroom and had experience as a personal care assistant, respite provider, and in special recreation associations.
Megan is a neurodivergent (ADHD-er) Board Certified Behavior Analyst serving public schools as an instructional and behavioral coach. Her career in public schools includes 4.5 years as an Early Childhood Bilingual Special Education Teacher, 3 years as a district wide autism specialist in a prek-21 district followed by 3 years as a programmatic BCBA for k-5 self contained autism classrooms in that same district. Currently Megan works as a student services coordinator providing general education and special education coaching for staff at an early childhood center in the suburbs of Chicago. She is an assent based practioner who values learning by listening to autisitc voices, learner autonomy, learner dignity, safety and teaching self advocacy. Additionally, she passionate about providing professional development for behavioral strategies for individuals with disabilities and most recently presented at the "Soaring to New Heights" Conference for Recreation Specialists in January 2019. Megan lives in the suburbs of Chicago with her husband, two daughters and birds, In her free time she enjoys traveling, reading, vegan gluten free cooking, & hot yoga.
